Primary Curriculum
The Primary Curriculum is a child-sized environment taking into consideration the pace, size and interests of the three to six year old child. At this age, the child has what Dr Montessori called an absorbent mind which is literally capable of absorbing information from the environment like a sponge! This is the natural way for a young child to learn.
Our three-year program provides an enriched environment especially prepared for this unique stage in a childs development.
Curriculum areas in the primary classroom include:
- Practical Life
- Sensorial
- Math
- Language
- Science botany, zoology, astronomy and earth science
- Culture geography and world culture
- Art (including study of the Masters)
- Care of animals and gardening
Integrated into all curriculum areas is Peace Education, including respect for self, for others and for the environment.
